March 21st (3:21) is World Down’s Syndrome Awareness Day!! This is an occasion very close to our hearts here at Ow Bist, because my son, Charlie, has Down’s Syndrome! So, I can say first-hand, Down’s Syndrome is A DISTINCTION, NOT A DEFECT!!!!
Down’s Syndrome is less commonly known as Trisomy 21, which refers to the 3 copies of the 21st chromosome that is the cause of Down’s Syndrome. Throughout the month of March, we try to raise awareness of the condition, making negative perceptions of Down’s a thing of the past, and Ow Bist’s contribution is through these awesome creations designed to be a conversation starter!
You will already have figured out the 3:21 represents the date of WDSD, and 3 copies of Chromosome 21. The three upward facing, entwined arrows blending together to create the symbolic blue and yellow ribbon synonymous with Down’s Syndrome Awareness.
