Every year, March 21st (3:21) is World Down’s Syndrome Awareness Day!! This is an occasion very close to our hearts here at Ow Bist, because my son, Charlie, has Down’s Syndrome! So, I can say first-hand, Down’s Syndrome is A DISTINCTION, NOT A DEFECT!!!!
Down’s Syndrome is less commonly known as Trisomy 21, which refers to the 3 copies of the 21st chromosome that is the cause of Down’s Syndrome. Throughout the month of March, we try to raise awareness of the condition, making negative perceptions of Down’s a thing of the past, and Ow Bist’s contribution is through these awesome creations designed to be a conversation starter!
You will already have figured out the 3:21 represents the date of WDSD, and 3 copies of Chromosome 21. The three upward facing, entwined arrows blending together to create the symbolic blue and yellow ribbon synonymous with Down’s Syndrome Awareness.
Here’s a tee that’s as child-friendly as it can possibly be, thanks to the super-smooth cotton Jersey fabric. Yet it’s strong enough to withstand kids energy and antics, thanks to the tightly twisted ringspun yarns that hold up to enthusiastic wearing and frequent washes and the rainbow of colours satisfies spirited sensibilities.
